Leuna Sherif, Kinesiologist
Bachelor of Kinesiology (Health Science) at UBC
Leuna graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Kinesiology in the Health Science stream. In her second year at UBC, Leuna became a personal trainer to supplement her kinesiology knowledge with practical experience. This position ignited a passion for working one-on-one with clients to help them achieve their fitness goals and foster healthy lifestyle habits. Leuna concurrently worked as a bootcamp instructor, primarily leading fitness classes with an educational component, such as Introduction to Weightlifting. Leuna also volunteered at UBC Bodyworks, where she learned how to train older adults under the guidance of a mentor. Now she is a mentor herself for undergraduate students in the UBC School of Kinesiology.
With 5 years of experience having worked as a personal trainer, Leuna currently serves her community as a kinesiologist, providing one-on-one active rehabilitation sessions to help clients recover from their injuries. Leuna works with a wide variety of clients including elderly individuals seeking improved mobility and ICBC motor vehicle accident patients on their road to recovery. Leuna’s goal in every session is to foster an atmosphere of trust and motivation, and educate clients so they can eventually independently continue their rehabilitation. Leuna designs personalized rehabilitation programs for her clients to aid in their recovery, improve their overall well-being and return to doing what they love.
Leuna’s personal journey as an immigrant to Canada from Dhaka, Bangladesh, made her appreciate the power of diversity and resilience. She is multilingual and eager to work with clients who require a kinesiologist speaking Bangla, Hindi and Urdu.
